Mahmut Orhan Opens a New Chapter of Creative Freedom With 19-Track Album 3

Mahmut Orhan is entering a new phase of his career with 3, a 19-track album that brings together deep house, melodic electronic music, indie dance and influences drawn from across different cultures.

Released on October 23 through Ultra Records, 3 is Mahmut Orhan’s third studio album, but the significance of its title extends beyond discography. The record arrives during Mahmut Orhan’s 33rd year and approximately a decade after the release that transformed his international career.

That convergence gives the number three a personal significance, marking a period in which years of touring, experimentation and international growth have developed into a stronger sense of artistic independence.

Rather than narrowing his sound, Mahmut Orhan uses the album to expand it.

The Meaning Behind 3

At 19 tracks, 3 gives Mahmut Orhan considerable space to move between different sides of his musical identity.

The album combines solo productions with an extensive collection of collaborations featuring ZHU, Felix Raphael, Francis Mercier, Shimza, John Cala, Michael Ekow, Drumstone, Botan, Deniz Tekin, FAITH and others.

The result reflects the international character that has increasingly defined Mahmut Orhan’s music.

Instead of remaining within a single house music formula, 3 travels through deep grooves, melodic electronics, Afro influenced rhythms, indie dance and more atmospheric territory.

The title track, “Three,” created with Berlin producer and vocalist Felix Raphael, establishes that approach early. A tightly controlled house groove meets shimmering electronic textures and hypnotic vocals, developing gradually rather than rushing toward an obvious peak.

It is an approach that reflects the wider philosophy behind the album, with Mahmut Orhan allowing individual tracks to establish their own identities inside a much larger musical journey.

From ZHU to Shimza

Some of the album’s most intriguing moments emerge through its collaborations.

“Transatlantic” brings Mahmut Orhan together with Grammy nominated American producer ZHU for an atmospheric meeting of two artists known for exploring the darker and more sensual edges of electronic music.

On “Gurbet,” Mahmut Orhan joins South African Afro Tech figure Shimza alongside Feri and Emir Taha, bringing tribal influenced rhythmic elements into the album’s wider palette.

Francis Mercier appears on “Get Down,” a bass driven production built around percussion and a looping vocal, while “The Summit” connects Mahmut Orhan with Turkish duo Drumstone and UK artist Botan.

Elsewhere, “Like This” features John Cala and Michael Ekow, while Deniz Tekin and FAITH appear across “Controlla” and “Donence.”

The extensive guest list could easily have made 3 feel fragmented. Instead, the collaborations reinforce the central idea of the record: Mahmut Orhan’s music increasingly exists between scenes, countries and stylistic traditions.

A Global Sound With Turkish Roots

That international perspective has been developing throughout Mahmut Orhan’s career.

Born in Bursa, Turkey, Mahmut Orhan initially entered electronic music through remixes of tracks from the 1980s and 1990s before gradually establishing his own production identity.

The major turning point arrived in 2016 with “Feel,” featuring Sena Sener.

The track accumulated approximately 260 million combined streams across YouTube and Spotify according to Mahmut Orhan’s biography, while reaching major chart positions internationally. It topped the iTunes Dance chart in 11 countries and reached number 25 worldwide on Shazam.

More importantly, “Feel” introduced a formula that would become fundamental to Mahmut Orhan’s development: electronic production capable of crossing borders without completely separating itself from the cultural influences behind it.

A decade later, 3 presents a much broader interpretation of that idea.

Tracks including “Gurbet,” “El Hawa,” “Yali” and “Trench Town” point toward different musical geographies, while the album as a whole demonstrates how comfortably Mahmut Orhan now moves between them.

A Defining Year on the Road

The album arrives after an especially active year for Mahmut Orhan.

Throughout 2026, Mahmut Orhan has performed across 20 countries during a 50 date global touring run, with appearances extending from Coachella and Tomorrowland to Burning Man Festival.

Mahmut Orhan also returned to Chinois Ibiza for a second residency, strengthening his presence on the island while continuing to develop his sound within a club environment.

Another significant moment came closer to home.

Mahmut Orhan brought his Homecoming concept to Istanbul in collaboration with travelling festival series ZAMNA, connecting the international scale of his current career with the country where his musical story began.

The combination of global festival appearances, club residencies and performances in Turkey provides an important backdrop to 3. The album arrives from an artist whose musical influences are increasingly being shaped by constant movement between audiences, cities and cultures.

Nineteen Tracks Without a Single Formula

The scale of 3 also gives Mahmut Orhan room for contrast.

Alongside its high profile collaborations are solo tracks including “Mommy,” “Loco,” “Unveiled” and “Omen,” allowing Mahmut Orhan’s individual production identity to remain visible throughout a record populated by guests.

Other tracks continue the collaborative approach, including “Deeper” with Franc Fala, “Dance Floor DNA” with People Like Us and “Making It Better” with Feri.

Across 19 tracks, the objective appears less concerned with maintaining one tightly defined genre than with documenting the range Mahmut Orhan has developed over the past decade.

That makes 3 particularly revealing as a third album.

The record does not attempt to return Mahmut Orhan to the sound of “Feel,” nor does it abandon the melodic and culturally diverse elements that helped establish his identity. Instead, it expands the territory around them.

Ten Years of Evolution

Almost a decade separates the breakthrough of “Feel” from the arrival of 3.

During that period, Mahmut Orhan has moved from a rising Turkish producer with an international hit into an artist performing across some of electronic music’s largest festivals and clubs.

Yet 3 appears less interested in summarising that journey than in establishing where Mahmut Orhan wants to go next.

Its 19 tracks reveal an artist increasingly comfortable with contrast, moving between solo productions and collaborations, club focused rhythms and atmospheric electronics, Turkish influences and sounds gathered from a much wider international landscape.

The symbolism of the title therefore feels appropriate.

Third album. Thirty third year. A decade of international growth behind it.

For Mahmut Orhan, 3 represents less a destination than the beginning of another creative cycle, one defined by greater freedom to explore the musical world he has spent the past decade building.
