A decade after Avicii stepped onto the stage for what would become his final performance, Stockholm is preparing to commemorate a defining moment in the life and career of one of electronic music’s most influential artists.
On August 28, 2026, exactly 10 years after Avicii played his final show at Ushuaïa Ibiza, the Avicii Experience will host a special anniversary event at The Node in Stockholm. Through rare performance footage and two dedicated film screenings, the gathering will revisit the closing chapter of Avicii’s touring career while celebrating the musical legacy that continues to resonate around the world.
Ten Years Since the Final Dance
Avicii, born Tim Bergling, played his final live show at Ushuaïa Ibiza on August 28, 2016. Earlier that year, Avicii had announced his decision to retire from touring, bringing an end to an extraordinary period that had taken the Swedish producer from Stockholm studios to some of the biggest festival stages and clubs in the world.
The anniversary event will revisit that moment through Avicii – My Last Show, a film documenting the final Ushuaïa performance. A second screening will take audiences back to August 5, 2016, when Avicii played his final show in Sweden at Tallriken in Malmö.
The two films will alternate every 30 minutes between 4 PM and 9 PM CEST, allowing visitors to experience two significant moments from the final weeks of Avicii’s life as a touring artist.
Attendance requires advance registration and subscription to the Avicii Experience newsletter, although visitors will not need to reserve a specific screening time.
From Stockholm to a Global Electronic Music Icon
Few artists transformed the sound and scale of electronic music in the 2010s as dramatically as Avicii. Breaking internationally with “Levels” in 2011, Avicii developed a melodic approach to dance music that combined festival-sized electronic production with songwriting drawn from pop, folk and country music.
Tracks including “Wake Me Up,” “Hey Brother,” “Waiting for Love” and “The Nights” became global successes, while albums such as True and Stories demonstrated Avicii’s willingness to move beyond the conventions of EDM at the height of the genre’s commercial explosion.
Avicii’s influence also extended to a generation of producers who followed. His ability to combine emotional melodies with accessible songwriting helped redefine what electronic music could achieve in the mainstream without completely abandoning its dancefloor foundations.
Avicii died in Oman in April 2018 at the age of 28, less than two years after stepping away from touring.
A Legacy Still Present on the Festival Circuit
Ten years after Avicii’s final performance, tributes to the Swedish artist remain part of contemporary electronic music culture.
At Tomorrowland 2026, Hardwell paid tribute to Avicii by wearing the late producer’s touring jacket during a One World Radio appearance, creating a particularly personal connection between two artists who emerged during the same transformative period of global EDM.
Tomorrowland also brought back its dedicated Avicii tribute experience, presented through a 144-square-metre immersive installation celebrating Avicii’s career and legacy. The experience gave a new generation of festivalgoers an opportunity to encounter the music, imagery and memories associated with an artist whose impact continues to reach far beyond his lifetime.
Preserving the Memory Behind the Music
The Stockholm anniversary is more than a retrospective of one final concert. By placing the Ushuaïa performance alongside Avicii’s last Swedish show, the event creates a portrait of the closing moments of a remarkable touring career.
A decade later, the scale of Avicii’s legacy can be measured not only through streams, chart positions or festival anthems, but through the continued emotional connection surrounding his music.
