House music just got a gift from the heavens! A previously unreleased Frankie Knuckles “In The House” mix has officially surfaced, released by Defected this week in celebration of what would’ve been Frankie’s birthday.
Titled “Defected presents Frankie Knuckles In The House (DJ Mix)”, the set runs for over 2 hours and offers a rare chance to hear the Godfather doing what he did best: building atmosphere, telling a story, and turning a selection into a journey.
According to reports, the mix was originally put together in 2011, meaning this isn’t just a playlist — it’s a preserved moment from Frankie’s later era, now finally shared with the world.
The tracklist pulls from a classy spectrum of house and soul-rooted energy, with names like Deetron, Marshall Jefferson, and Patrice Rushen appearing in the selection mixed together by the Godfather of house music.
For now, it’s exclusive to Apple Music, so you’ll need access there to experience the full set : Apple Music.

This is the kind of release that matters — not because it’s “new,” but because it reminds the world where the roots of electronic music came from.
