An unusual story that reconnected a father and his son through the power of music and creativity. The recognition of the duo’s professionalism as DJs and producers is only surpassed by their dedication to their profession having recently signed in some of the biggest record labels like “TOOLROOM RECORDS”, “NERVOUS RECORDS”, “BLANCO Y NEGRO MUSIC”, “DISTANCE MUSIC RECORDS”, “SERIAL RECORDS”, “MATERIAL” among others.
Supported by: Mark Knight, Solardo, wAFF, Richy Ahmed, Gorgon City, Bassel Darwich, Masson Collective, James Haskell, Mercer, Though Love, Chicks Luv us, Amin Edge & Dance, Kideko, Devstar, Resident Advisor, Ibiza spotlight, Guettapen and more… We caught up with them how things are and talked about their new release on Nervous Records.
Great to have you guys! Can you take us to the start of the Father and Son music journey. When & how did it start?
Andy (my son) start djing 10 years ago after seeing me playing several times at private parties in Ibiza when I brought him with me, then his interest in music grew up. It came naturally that we create the duo FATHER AND SON 5 years ago. This has definitely reconnected a Father and his Son through the power of music and creativity. It’s an amazing experience and a great chance to be able to share this passion together, playing on stage, when he leaves me some space, but it’s legitimate, and what a father can be happier than to see his son having fun! We figured out through people’s feedback that they would have loved to share in this way their passion with their dad.
How has 2022 been for you so far? Are you feeling optimistic about the year ahead?
It has been an amazing year so far, we signed a lot of our productions on great labels like Nervous records, Material series, serial records, and Distance music with a remix of our track by Bassel Darwich. This allowed us to establish ourselves in the music industry. We are really optimistic for the year ahead as we continue to grow in a really good direction.
What was the first track or artist that inspired you guys to become producers?
I think we are both inspired by 90’s house music like Jamiroquai, Crystal Waters, and many others..we like jazzy chords! But we are also inspired by the new generation such as Michael Bibi, Eddy m, Luuk Van Dijk and many others…
Do you share the same taste in music production or do you both have your own taste and does it blend together?
Our taste and capacity for music production evolved month after month, the longer we are working together the more our taste come together and is making one.
You guys already have releases on the biggest labels in the scene, but we are also curious about your new release on ‘Nervous Records’! Tell us a bit more about this release. What was the inspiration behind this one?
The release on Nervous is quite original we were doing a late studio session around 5 am the elements followed well on the track we knew we had a good track then after we left it for a while and a friend told us that we absolutely had to finish it it’s a real banger haha!
Do you have any favorite pieces of equipment you have been using in the studio?
We don’t have any favorite equipment in the studio but just basic but effective plugins like saturation, compression, fx…
Finally, what else have you got coming up in 2022 that you can tell us about?
The main news is that we are creating our own music label ” Groovy Family Records ” Which will be in place in the next few weeks, some gigs in Ibiza are already confirmed and some others are cooking but we can’t tell you more for the moment!
