The mystery surrounding Fred again.. and Grand Theft Auto VI has officially disappeared. Following a wave of cryptic social media posts that initially suggested Fred again.. and PinkPantheress were involved with Rockstar Games’ highly anticipated new title, “Sexy Magic” is now officially out. The original track brings together Fred again.., PinkPantheress, CA7RIEL & Paco Amoroso and French electronic music veteran Étienne de Crécy, and forms part of the newly announced Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album. Fred again.. confirmed the connection through his team run Instagram account, posting a video alongside the caption, “sexy magic is out now, from grand theft auto VI”, while tagging the other artists involved. The release is no longer a teaser or speculation. It is one of six tracks released today from an ambitious 34 song collection of original music created for the world of Grand Theft Auto VI.
“Sexy Magic” Connects Several Generations of Electronic Music
The combination of artists behind “Sexy Magic” makes the track particularly interesting from an electronic music perspective.
Fred again.. has become one of the defining electronic artists of the current decade, moving fluidly between intimate songwriting, club music and enormous live performances. PinkPantheress has similarly built a distinctive space between electronic production, pop, garage and internet born musical culture.
CA7RIEL & Paco Amoroso bring another dimension to the collaboration. The Argentine duo have developed an increasingly international audience through their unconventional combination of hip hop, pop, electronic music and Latin influences.
Then there is Étienne de Crécy, whose presence creates a bridge with an earlier generation of electronic music. The French producer emerged as an important figure within the French Touch movement during the 1990s and has spent decades exploring the intersection between house music, production and audiovisual performance.
Putting these names together makes “Sexy Magic” more than another soundtrack placement. It creates a musical meeting point between different scenes, countries and generations.
From Cryptic Yacht Posts to Confirmation
Only days ago, the identities of the artists involved were still being pieced together through a coordinated series of Instagram posts.
Fred again.., PinkPantheress and CA7RIEL & Paco Amoroso were connected through imagery depicting a digitally rendered yacht in the unmistakable visual language associated with Grand Theft Auto VI. Similar artwork appeared across the accounts of other major artists, fuelling speculation that Rockstar Games was beginning to reveal its musical roster.
That speculation has now been replaced by something considerably bigger.
Rockstar Games and Atlantic Records have officially announced Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album, featuring 34 brand new original tracks. The complete project will arrive on November 19, alongside the game itself.
“Sexy Magic” is also already appearing on streaming services as a Grand Theft Auto VI release, confirming its place within the official album campaign.
Six Original Tracks Arrive First
Rather than revealing the entire soundtrack at once, Rockstar has opened the campaign by releasing six original songs.
Alongside “Sexy Magic,” the first selection includes “That’s It” by Yung Lean featuring Future and Metro Boomin, “RHYNO” by Travis Scott, “Last Thing You Need” by Morgan Wallen, “Macacoa 2000” by Rauw Alejandro and “Bright Lights, Big City” by Keith Richards.
The Travis Scott track contains another major connection to electronic music history. “RHYNO” is produced by Guy Manuel de Homem Christo, one half of Daft Punk, adding yet another influential electronic figure to the project.
From Fred again.. and Étienne de Crécy to Guy Manuel de Homem Christo, electronic music is clearly occupying an important position within the emerging musical identity of the new game.
A 34 Track Album Built for Vice City
The scale of the project also marks a significant development in the relationship between Grand Theft Auto and music.
Rather than simply compiling existing records for an accompanying soundtrack, Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album is being presented as a collection of 34 original tracks, created by a broad international roster. The album is scheduled for release on the same day as the game and will be available digitally as well as through multiple CD and vinyl editions.
That approach fits naturally with the return to Vice City and the wider fictional state of Leonida, a world heavily informed by the visual language, nightlife and tropical atmosphere of Florida. Rockstar describes the album as capturing the energy of that environment, suggesting music will once again function as more than background decoration.
Electronic Music Was Already Hiding in Plain Sight
Clues about the musical direction of Grand Theft Auto VI had already surfaced before the latest announcement.
A previous extended look at the game featured music connected to Jayda G, Aluna, Elderbrook and Bob Moses, alongside artists from hip hop, Latin music and other genres. That early selection already suggested that electronic music would have a substantial presence within the wider sonic universe Rockstar is constructing.
The latest announcement considerably expands that picture.
What initially looked like a handful of soundtrack placements is becoming a deliberately curated musical ecosystem spanning contemporary electronic music, hip hop, pop, rock, country and Latin sounds.
GTA and Music Culture
Music has long been one of the defining elements of the Grand Theft Auto experience. Its fictional radio stations have historically functioned as carefully constructed snapshots of different scenes and eras, turning driving through a virtual city into a form of musical discovery.
With Grand Theft Auto VI, Rockstar appears to be pushing that relationship further by creating a substantial body of original music around the game itself.
The cultural reach involved is difficult to ignore. After more than a decade since Grand Theft Auto V arrived in 2013, the next chapter carries extraordinary attention across gaming, music and wider entertainment.
For electronic artists, appearing within that world can introduce their music to an audience extending far beyond clubs and festivals.
