Carl Cox Turns a Signature Part of His Identity Into Limited FREQUENCY Eyewear Collection

Carl Cox has turned one of the most recognisable elements of his personal style into a new limited collection.

The electronic music figure has partnered with independent Swiss eyewear brand iWear.LEGEND to launch FREQUENCY, a collection of sunglasses and accessories inspired by Carl Coxโ€™s relationship with music, movement and the glasses that have been part of his image for decades.

At the centre of the collaboration are two sunglasses models, VIBE and RIDE, each individually numbered and limited to 500 pieces worldwide.

The wider collection also includes four accessories, while an especially limited Collectorโ€™s Box brings the complete FREQUENCY concept together in just 50 numbered editions.

The collection is available now through the official Carl Cox and iWear.LEGEND FREQUENCY page.

From Records to Frames

For Carl Cox, eyewear is more than an accessory.

Glasses have accompanied Carl Cox throughout much of his career, becoming an immediately recognisable part of his appearance alongside the infectious energy and physical enthusiasm he brings to the DJ booth.

The FREQUENCY collaboration takes that familiar detail and turns it into something designed directly around his identity.

Carl Cox compares choosing the right frames with another ritual that has shaped his life: buying records.

He recalls discovering Roy Ayersโ€™ โ€œRunning Awayโ€ in a record shop and being told by the person behind the counter that it would be the biggest record he would ever buy.

That memory informs the way Carl Cox describes the physical quality of the new eyewear.

Being involved in designing the eyewear I’m wearing today feels personal, almost like choosing a vinyl record you’re happy to buy. It’s tangible.

Carl Cox adds that his glasses are the first thing he reaches for every morning.

For an artist whose career developed through physical records, turntables and decades of club culture, that emphasis on tangible objects gives the collaboration a natural connection with his wider story.

VIBE and RIDE

The collection is built around two distinctive designs.

VIBE represents sound through a bold rectangular silhouette and pronounced brow line, while RIDE takes its inspiration from speed with a navigator silhouette and double bridge.

Both designs are limited to 500 individually numbered pieces.

A visual element known as the Frequency Pattern connects the entire collection. Inspired by an equaliser and drawn from Carl Coxโ€™s musical world, the motif appears throughout the different pieces.

Both sunglasses models are produced using Mazzucchelli Renew acetate. Crystal laminated temples reveal the Frequency Pattern along a metal wire core, integrating the musical concept directly into the construction of the frames.

The emphasis on sound and speed also reflects two longstanding dimensions of Carl Coxโ€™s life.

Electronic music has defined his professional journey, while his enthusiasm for motorsport and machines has long existed alongside his work behind the decks.

VIBE and RIDE bring those worlds together without attempting to turn the collection into conventional artist merchandise.

Beyond the Sunglasses

FREQUENCY extends into four additional accessories.

The collection includes the High Frequency Bracelet, Backstage Frame Holder, On Tour Silk Sleep Mask and Sun Session Visor.

For collectors, all elements are brought together through a special Collectorโ€™s Box, limited to only 50 numbered boxes worldwide.

That small production run places the project firmly within the territory of limited design objects rather than mass produced music merchandise.

The approach also reflects iWear.LEGENDโ€™s emphasis on independent production and craftsmanship.

Based in Bern and part of JAZE Eyewear AG, iWear.LEGEND designs its frames in Switzerland and produces them in Italy.

Patrick Schaffer, founder of iWear.LEGEND, describes independence and craftsmanship as central points of connection between the brand and Carl Cox.

The partnership, according to Patrick Schaffer, developed naturally because glasses have been part of Carl Coxโ€™s identity for so long.

Carl Being Carl

Alongside the collection, the collaboration offers a more personal perspective on the artist through a new film titled Carl Being Carl.

Filmed at Danteโ€™s HiFi in Ibiza, the film gives Carl Cox space to reflect on experiences that shaped his life, from family parties during his childhood to the Ibiza residency that became one of the defining chapters of his career.

The location carries its own connection with the culture surrounding the project.

Ibiza has occupied an extraordinary place in Carl Coxโ€™s career, particularly through his long association with the islandโ€™s club scene and the generations of dancers who experienced his sets there.

Rather than treating the eyewear launch as an isolated fashion project, Carl Being Carl connects the collection with the personal history behind the artist wearing it.

A Personal Collaboration After Decades Behind the Decks

Few electronic artists have maintained a visual identity as naturally recognisable as Carl Cox.

Yet that identity has never depended on elaborate costumes or fictional characters. The glasses were simply always there.

That makes FREQUENCY different from a collaboration built around attaching a famous name to an unrelated product. The collection begins with something Carl Cox actually uses every day and expands outward through design references connected with sound, touring and speed.

It also arrives after decades in which Carl Cox has moved through almost every major technological transformation in electronic music, from vinyl and early rave culture to digital DJing and the enormous international festival circuit.

Throughout those changes, physical objects have continued to play a role in his story.

Records were selected, carried and played. Glasses were worn. Machines were driven. Music was experienced through equipment and spaces that could be touched.

FREQUENCY translates a small but familiar part of that history into a limited design collection.

The glasses may have always been there. This time, they belong to a collection built specifically around Carl Cox.

The complete FREQUENCY collection and Collectorโ€™s Box can be explored through the official iWear.LEGEND website.
