Every August, Montréal becomes a living laboratory where sound, image, and technology collide. At the center of this transformation is the MUTEK Montréal Festival, a global hub for electronic music & digital art and one of the world’s most respected festivals dedicated to electronic music and digital creativity.

As MUTEK looks ahead to its 27th edition (August 25–30, 2026), it is opening its doors to artists through its Call for Projects 2026—an invitation to imagine, experiment, and present the future of audiovisual performance.

Founded in 2000, MUTEK Montréal was created to support emerging forms of electronic music and digital art at a time when those practices were still largely underground. More than two decades later, it has become an internationally influential platform, known for:

– Forward-thinking live electronic performances
– Groundbreaking audiovisual and immersive works
– Large-scale digital art installations
– A professional forum that connects artists, technologists, curators, and cultural institutions

Rather than focusing on spectacle alone, MUTEK positions itself as a space for research, experimentation, and artistic risk-taking.

The Call for Projects 2026 invites artists to help shape the next edition of the MUTEK Montréal Festival by submitting innovative works that sit at the crossroads of sound, image, and emerging technologies. MUTEK is seeking proposals that reflect experimentation, artistic research, and a forward-looking approach to digital creation, continuing the festival’s role as a platform for new and exploratory practices.

Priority is given to original, live performances, including unreleased electronic music, audiovisual works that explore real-time relationships between sound and visuals, and projects that actively push the boundaries of digital art through new tools or technologies. The focus is on live, evolving experiences rather than pre-recorded formats, encouraging artists to present bold ideas that redefine how electronic music and digital art can be performed and experienced.
