Underworld & KI/KI Unite on ‘Arp12’, A High-Voltage Cross-Generational Club Weapon

Electronic music rarely pauses long enough for legacy and future to truly collide. But on ‘Arp12’, Underworld and KI/KI do exactly that, fusing eras, tempos and philosophies into a single, relentless club statement.

The track lands as Underworld’s first new material since their 2024 album Strawberry Hotel, and marks their first-ever collaboration with the Dutch trance-techno force KI/KI. Built for peak-time impact, ‘Arp12’ leans into hard techno percussion, euphoric synth architecture and a trance-leaning bassline that feels both nostalgic and forward-pushing, like a warehouse memory projected into the future.

The track was recently road-tested at EDC Las Vegas, where Underworld premiered it during a set streamed globally, giving fans an early glimpse into its full-throttle energy.

A Sound Built for Scale

‘Arp12’ wastes no time with subtlety. It arrives like a strobe-lit tunnel, driven by pounding kicks and sharp arpeggiated sequences that spiral upward into melodic release. KI/KI’s influence is clear in the track’s pacing and intensity, while Underworld’s signature sense of space and layering keeps it from collapsing into pure aggression.

The result is a track that comfortably sits between festival main stage euphoria and underground warehouse hypnosis, a rare balancing act in today’s fragmented electronic landscape.

Underworld: Architects of Electronic Continuity

Few acts have shaped electronic music’s DNA quite like Underworld. Emerging from the UK’s early 90s rave explosion, the duo became globally iconic with tracks like Born Slippy (Nuxx), a cultural landmark that transcended club culture after its association with Trainspotting.

Across decades, Underworld have consistently evolved without losing their core identity, blending techno, progressive, ambient and experimental structures into immersive sonic narratives. Their live shows remain a benchmark for electronic performance, balancing raw energy with cinematic depth.

Earlier this year, the group celebrated 30 years of ‘Born Slippy (Nuxx)’ with a series of London shows, alongside a limited vinyl reissue, reaffirming their enduring relevance across generations.

KI/KI: The New Pulse of Trance-Techno Fusion

f Underworld represent continuity, KI/KI embodies acceleration. The Amsterdam-based DJ and producer has rapidly become one of the most influential names in the current wave of high-BPM trance-infused techno.

Her sets and productions are defined by emotional intensity, fast tempos and a fearless approach to genre blending. At a time when electronic music is rediscovering trance aesthetics, KI/KI stands at the center of that revival, pushing it into harder, faster and more ecstatic territory.

Her influence extends beyond sound alone. KI/KI has helped reshape club energy itself, bringing a renewed sense of euphoria, release and collective experience back into dancefloors that had, for a time, leaned toward minimalism.

A Season of Momentum

The release arrives as Underworld prepare for an extensive run of international shows across Europe, North America and South America throughout 2026. If ‘Arp12’ is any indication, their sets are likely to lean harder, faster and more in sync with the current club zeitgeist than ever before.

For KI/KI, the collaboration further cements her position not just as a rising artist, but as a defining voice of the current era.

‘Arp12’ doesn’t just bridge generations, it compresses them into one pressure point. It is part archive, part adrenaline shot. A reminder that electronic music’s timeline isn’t linear but cyclical, constantly folding back on itself while pushing forward.
