The Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE) is preparing a milestone edition in 2026. As the world’s leading festival and conference for electronic music marks its 30th anniversary, the organisation has announced that legendary electronic composer Jean-Michel Jarre will serve as guest of honour for the landmark year.
ADE 2026 will take place October 21–25, 2026, transforming Amsterdam into the global capital of electronic music once again. Jarre’s involvement will anchor the anniversary edition with a series of special appearances, including an Opening Concert at AFAS Live, an exclusive keynote interview at ADE Pro, and additional programming still to be announced.

A Historic Convergence of Electronic Music Milestones
The invitation creates a symbolic alignment between two timelines in electronic music history. While ADE celebrates 30 years of shaping the global electronic music ecosystem, Jean-Michel Jarre himself marks the 50th anniversary of his landmark album Oxygène, one of the most influential electronic records ever produced.
Released in 1976, Oxygène helped introduce synthesizer-driven music to mainstream audiences and remains a reference point for generations of producers. For ADE, the anniversary moment brings together two parallel narratives: the rise of electronic music as a global culture and the pioneers who laid its earliest foundations.
Opening Concert at AFAS Live
As part of ADE’s traditional Opening Concert series, Jean-Michel Jarre, who just announced his first concert in Ibiza at Amnesia, will return to the Netherlands for a special live performance at AFAS Live, presented by MOJO and Insomniac.
The show is expected to translate the composer’s signature large-scale audiovisual productions into a cutting-edge indoor spectacle, combining immersive stage design, projection mapping, architecture-scale lighting and video elements — hallmarks that have defined Jarre’s concerts for decades.
“Electronic music, as well as ADE, has a history, a legacy and a future. The live show at ADE is going to celebrate its 30th anniversary, but also the 50th anniversary of Oxygène. I have the ambition to keep the suspense and go from one track to another, into a different atmosphere, different stage design, mapping, giant projections and architectures of lights and videos, to share that moment that can stay in your heart and your brain for the rest of your lives — This is the reason I’m so happy to be part of this celebration in 2026.” Jean-Michel Jarre said

Bridging the Origins and Future of Electronic Music
Beyond the concert, Jarre will take part in ADE Pro, the conference arm of the festival that brings together thousands of artists, labels, promoters, technologists and policymakers each year.
His keynote interview is expected to explore the intersection of technology, creativity and large-scale performance, themes that have defined his career since the early days of synthesizer experimentation. Jarre’s work — from studio innovations to city-scale concerts transforming urban landscapes into audiovisual canvases — mirrors the technological evolution that ADE itself has documented across three decades.

30 Years of ADE
Founded in 1996, the Amsterdam Dance Event Foundation has grown ADE into the world’s largest club-based electronic music festival and industry platform. What began as a gathering for professionals and fans of a still-emerging genre has expanded into a five-day citywide celebration of electronic culture.
Today the event features more than:
- 3,300 artists
- 1,200 events
- in 200 venues across Amsterdam
From club nights and festival stages to conference panels, art exhibitions and experimental performances, ADE has become a central meeting point for the global electronic music community — shaping not only how the music is experienced but also how the industry evolves.
Looking Ahead to ADE 2026
More initiatives, special events and collaborations tied to “30 Years of ADE” will be unveiled in the coming months as the anniversary edition takes shape.
As ADE enters its fourth decade, the message behind the anniversary is clear: electronic music is no longer a niche movement but a global cultural force — one that continues to connect pioneers, innovators and new generations on the same dancefloor.
Concert tickets for Jean-Michel Jarre’s opening concert at AFAS Live will go on sale March 13, while ADE Pro passes will be available at early-bird rates starting March 11.
