99Solutions Acquires HÖR: A New Chapter for Berlin’s Livestream Platform

Since its launch in 2019, HÖR evolved from a small Berlin livestream concept into one of electronic music’s most recognizable digital platforms. Founded by Ori Itshaky and Doron Charly Mastey, the broadcaster became famous for its minimalist booth setup, raw underground energy and nonstop livestream programming that helped redefine how club culture could exist online.

During the pandemic years especially, HÖR became a crucial outlet for DJs, collectives and emerging artists worldwide. Its instantly recognizable visual format and heavy focus on underground electronic music transformed the platform into a daily ritual for global dance music audiences, offering visibility to artists far beyond traditional club circuits.

The Backlash and Industry Fallout

But HÖR’s rapid rise also came with mounting controversy.

Over the past two years, the platform faced intense criticism surrounding its moderation policies and public positioning regarding Israel and Palestine. The backlash escalated across social media and within the electronic music community, with various artists publicly distancing themselves from the platform, canceling appearances or requesting the removal of their sets.

For many within the scene, the controversy raised broader questions about accountability, political positioning and the role of cultural platforms during periods of geopolitical tension. What initially appeared as an online dispute gradually evolved into a reputational crisis that deeply impacted HÖR’s standing within parts of the underground electronic music ecosystem.

99Solutions Steps In

Now, Berlin-based music services company 99Solutions has officially acquired HÖR DOT LIVE GmbH, taking full ownership of the livestream platform in a move announced on June 5.

According to the new ownership group, HÖR will continue operating as an independent brand while entering what managing director Stefanie Rohn described as “a new chapter.” The acquisition signals an attempt not only to stabilize the platform after a turbulent period, but also to reposition it for long-term growth.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Beyond Livestreaming: Expanding the Ecosystem

Founded in 2023 by Stefanie Rohn and Nico Meckelnburg, 99Solutions operates as a holding and investment company focused on music and entertainment ventures. The company’s wider network already includes activities spanning artist management, publishing and music business services.

Under the new ownership, HÖR is expected to expand beyond livestream broadcasting into areas including:

  • label services
  • publishing
  • artist bookings
  • strategic partnerships
  • infrastructure development

The move reflects a growing trend in electronic music where media platforms increasingly evolve into multi-layered ecosystems combining content, artist development and rights management under the same umbrella.

A Turning Point for HÖR

The acquisition arrives at a critical moment for HÖR.

Despite the controversies, the platform remains one of the most recognizable livestream brands in underground electronic music, with a strong global identity and an audience deeply embedded within online club culture. The challenge now will be whether 99Solutions can preserve the authenticity and cultural relevance that originally made HÖR successful while rebuilding trust within parts of the electronic music community.

For Berlin’s ever-evolving electronic scene, the deal represents more than a business transaction. It marks another chapter in the ongoing collision between underground culture, digital platforms and the realities of modern music infrastructure.
