verve festival review

Verve brought something new to Lucerne from 20th – 22nd May, 2022. The much-anticipated first edition kicked off with some special pre-events at ROK Club and SUDPOL CLUB but for us the highlight was the main action at Lucerne’s Allmend/Messe 1 arena.

It is a vast, state of the art space with sleek futuristic lighting, dark boxes that become innovative rave spaces and a punchy sound system. What more, both stages had their own look and feel with a classy outdoor area when we needed to catch our breath.

There were many standout sets on Saturday with Stella Bossi playing a crazy set on the second stage. Fatima Hajji followed after her with an energetic all-guns-blazing techno selection full of fire and Oostil & The Element played a strong back to back mix that kept the crowd going hard. Last of all for Saturday was a masterclass in main stage sound from the one and only Joris Voorn.

Sunday was no less essential with powerful offerings from main stage headliners Lilly Palmer and Oliver Huntemann who brought the funk. Last of all was the legendary Ben Klock, whose high speed house took in all shades and subgenres and sent us home happy.

All of this is in a blissful spot within the Swiss mountains, a short train ride from the main city, a surreal setting. That means there really is no reason not to head out next year and lap up this superb techno gathering.
