Prospa’s Harvey Blumler Steps Back From Touring Due to Ongoing Ear Condition

Harvey Blumler, one half of UK electronic duo Prospa, has announced that he will take a temporary break from performing while recovering from a serious ear condition.

In a statement shared via Prospa’s Instagram, Harvey Blumler revealed that he has suffered two perforated eardrums and ear infections over the past six weeks. Continuing to perform during that period prevented his ears from properly healing, leading medical specialists to advise him to step away from shows for the foreseeable future.

“It breaks my heart that I have to take some time out due to an ongoing issue with my ears,” Harvey Blumler wrote, explaining that the decision is necessary if he wants to continue performing long-term.

Guiorgi “Gosha” Smith to Perform Prospa Shows Solo

All upcoming Prospa dates are currently expected to continue as planned, with Guiorgi “Gosha” Smith performing solo in Harvey Blumler’s absence.

The affected shows include CircoLoco Ibiza, Awakenings Festival, Audio Obscura Rotterdam, and Prospa’s support slot for Peggy Gou at London’s Old Royal Naval College.

Harvey Blumler said he hopes the issue may resolve within the next four weeks, though he also acknowledged that the exact recovery timeline remains uncertain. For now, the priority is allowing his ears to heal fully before returning to the booth.

Harvey Blumler also used the statement to thank fans for their understanding, while highlighting Guiorgi “Gosha” Smith’s work during his absence.

Above all, I want to thank Gosha for all of his hard work and dedication while I was away,

Harvey Blumler wrote, asking fans to show Guiorgi “Gosha” Smith the appreciation he deserves.

A Difficult Moment During a Major Chapter for Prospa

The timing comes during an important period for Prospa.

Last month, the Leeds-born duo released their debut album, FREE YOUR MIND, via CircoLoco Records. The 11-track project marks a major milestone for Prospa, bringing together classic house, techno and UK rave influences while featuring collaborations with Cloonee, KETTAMA and Murda Beatz.

Known for fusing euphoric rave energy with modern club production, Prospa has become one of the UK’s most exciting electronic acts in recent years. Harvey Blumler and Guiorgi “Gosha” Smith have built a sound rooted in nostalgia but designed for contemporary dancefloors, emotional, high-impact and deeply connected to the lineage of British club culture.

Harvey Blumler’s temporary absence therefore arrives at a moment when Prospa’s momentum is especially strong, making the decision both professionally difficult and medically necessary.

The Prospa Phenomenon

Part of Prospa’s rise comes from the way Harvey Blumler and Guiorgi “Gosha” Smith translate rave nostalgia into something that feels urgent, emotional and built for today’s dancefloors. Their sound pulls from classic UK warehouse culture, house, techno and euphoric rave energy, but reshapes those influences through a modern production lens.

In doing so, Prospa has become a bridge between generations speaking to listeners who remember the roots of UK rave while introducing that spirit to a younger global audience. Their impact lies in making high-energy electronic music feel both communal and emotionally charged, proving that rave culture still has new forms to take.

Hearing Health Becomes an Industry Conversation

Harvey Blumler’s announcement also adds to a growing conversation around hearing health in electronic music.

DJs and producers operate in environments where high sound pressure, long performance hours, constant travel and repeated exposure to loud monitoring systems can create serious physical strain. While hearing protection is increasingly discussed across the industry, many artists still face pressure to continue performing even when their bodies need rest.

Harvey Blumler is not the only artist to publicly address the issue recently. Last month, Purple Disco Machine was also forced to cancel a number of shows due to severe tinnitus and hearing loss, underlining how common and serious these conditions can become for touring artists.

For an industry built around sound, hearing health is not a side issue. It is central to artistic survival.

Rest Before Return

For now, Prospa’s upcoming shows will continue with Guiorgi “Gosha” Smith representing the duo behind the decks, while Harvey Blumler focuses on recovery.

The decision may be frustrating for fans and emotionally difficult for Harvey Blumler, but it also sends an important message: longevity in electronic music requires listening to the body as much as the crowd.

After proper rest, Harvey Blumler hopes to return stronger.

And for Prospa, this pause is not an ending it is a necessary step toward keeping the music alive for the long run.
