Tomorrowland is continuing its global expansion with an even bigger return to China.
The Belgian festival giant has announced that The Magic of Tomorrowland will return to Shanghai this October in an expanded format, growing from a one-day event into a two-day festival for its 2026 edition. Scheduled for October 17–18 at the Hero Dome, the event marks the third edition of Tomorrowland’s Chinese showcase and reflects the brand’s growing ambitions across Asia.
While the full lineup has yet to be revealed, organisers confirmed that a mix of international headliners and leading Chinese artists will once again take centre stage.

Building Tomorrowland’s Presence in Asia
Since debuting in Shanghai, The Magic of Tomorrowland has become a strategic part of the festival’s international expansion.
Rather than replicating the scale of its flagship Belgian event, the Chinese edition has been designed as an immersive experience that introduces Tomorrowland’s storytelling, stage production and visual identity to one of the world’s fastest-growing electronic music markets.
The move to a two-day format signals increasing demand from audiences across China and the wider Asia-Pacific region.
Commenting on the announcement, Tomorrowland spokesperson Debby Wilmsen said:
We are excited to bring The Magic of Tomorrowland back to Shanghai for a new experience. The enthusiasm from fans in China and across Asia has been incredible, and we look forward to welcoming even more people into the world of Tomorrowland this year.
Ticket information will be released in August, with fans able to pre-register through the INS Land app and INS Land WeChat Mini Program.
A Festival Brand Without Borders
The expansion of Tomorrowland China reflects a broader international strategy that has accelerated in recent years.
While Boom, Belgium, remains the spiritual home of Tomorrowland, the brand has increasingly evolved into a global entertainment platform through international festivals, digital experiences and destination events. Alongside Belgium, Tomorrowland now operates editions and collaborations across Europe, South America, the Middle East and Asia, bringing its signature production values to audiences around the world.
The latest Shanghai expansion also follows the recent announcement of the inaugural Tomorrowland Thailand, scheduled for December, where Martin Garrix and Swedish House Mafia have already been confirmed as headline acts.
Together, these projects illustrate how Tomorrowland continues exporting its unique festival identity far beyond its original home.

One of Electronic Music’s Defining Festivals
Since its launch in 2005, Tomorrowland has become one of the most influential festivals in electronic music history.
What began as a Belgian dance festival has grown into one of the world’s most recognised cultural brands, famous for its elaborate stage designs, fantasy-inspired storytelling and carefully curated lineups that unite the biggest names in electronic music with emerging talent from around the globe.
Beyond its spectacular production, Tomorrowland has helped shape modern festival culture by raising expectations for audiovisual experiences, artist programming and audience immersion. Its global livestreams and digital broadcasts have also introduced electronic music to millions of viewers who have never attended the festival in person, extending its influence well beyond the festival grounds.
For many artists, performing at Tomorrowland has become a defining milestone, while for fans, it remains one of electronic music’s most sought-after destinations.

Looking Ahead to a Busy 2026
The Shanghai announcement comes during an active period for the Belgian brand.
Only days earlier, Tomorrowland unveiled the timetable for its flagship Tomorrowland Belgium 2026, where artists including David Guetta, Martin Garrix and Calvin Harris are set to headline across multiple stages.
With Belgium preparing to welcome hundreds of thousands of festivalgoers next month and new international editions continuing to expand, Tomorrowland is entering one of the busiest periods in its history.
The decision to extend The Magic of Tomorrowland into a two-day experience suggests that Asia is becoming an increasingly important chapter in that story.
As electronic music continues its global growth, Tomorrowland isn’t simply following new audiences.
It’s helping build them.
